It’s more than just the match – it’s about sharing the energy with mates, supporting local bars and restaurants, and enjoying the best food and drinks Melbourne has to offer. From iconic sports pubs to hidden gems with big screens and even bigger vibes, you’ll find plenty of places to kick back, cheer on your team, and make the most of the long weekend.

Fifth Province – St Kilda

The Fifth Province pub in St Kilda was designed by Irish expat Liam Ganley and opened in 2014. It is known for its extensive selection of Irish whiskeys, live music, and authentic Irish pub atmosphere, and it recently entered a new phase as an Irish Whiskey Bar. 

There’s nothing like watching the footy at the pub and The Fifth is the place to be this AFL Grand Final. Catch every moment of the game live and loud on the big screens in the bar and beer garden. With perfectly poured pints of Guinness, hearty pub meals, and a buzzing St Kilda atmosphere, it’s the next best thing to being at the ‘G.

Spread Eagle Hotel – Richmond

For 130 years, the Spread Eagle Hotel has proudly maintained its standing as one of the best pubs in Richmond, Melbourne.

They are celebrating the Grand Final with a special AFL Grand Final Chef’s Selection Lunch which is almost booked out!

$130 per head get’s you a 3 course meal and a glass of sparkling or pot of beer on arrival.

The Gertrude Hotel – Fitzroy

The Gertrude Hotel is an Italian-inspired gastropub on a prominent spot – the corner of Gertrude and Napier streets. The pub has an unfussy, airy and bright atmosphere, with natural wood finishes and heritage stone.

The whole venue will be dedciated to Grand Final festivities with 8 x screens – sound on, and $6 schooners until the first bounce! In the dining room they are hosting a special lunch at $75pp and on the rooftop terrace they will have an a la carte menu available all day.

Malt Shovel Taphouse – Geelong

Opening in 2020, The Malt Shovel Taphouse marks the sixth Malt Shovel Taphouse in Australia.

The venue’s focus is on intimate customer service experiences, featuring beer guides and authentic stories, to beer tasting zones, roaming brew crews and beer appreciation classes… plus a tonne of great food!

Get set to enjoy Grand Final day from 1-5pm for a set menu and drinks package for $120 pp.

The Bay Hotel – Mornington

Housed inside a heritage-listed building, this gastropub on Mornington’s main strip has a storied past. Established in 1889, it was originally built as a bank before being converted into a hotel and, eventually, a nightclub.

Every screen in the venue will be showing the game live with full commentary, and the kitchen will be serving the à la carte menu all day. After the final siren, stick around — live music rolls through with David Joseph, Dan Melita, Lonely Weekenders and DJ Bec.

Doors open at 12pm. Tables can be reserved from 12–2pm and we recommend booking early.
